 spring break almost over
(1 comment)

So I applied for that assistant job last week but haven't heard anything yet. For a college that professes to be "family-friendly" and sensitive to the needs of dual-career couples, they're not exactly bending over backwards.

Then today I was just checking out websites of nearby schools and happened across a one-year position that fits me perfectly. Seriously, I have about 95% of the qualifications they need, and it's closer than where I currently teach. The only problem is that they need my materials by tomorrow! I have my cover letter and resume ready to go, so if I overnight it they should get it by tomorrow. (I'm waiting for DH to get home - we only have one set of carseats and I'm home with Gatinha) The letters of recommendation and transcripts will be a little late, but I don't think that's as important if they like my qualifications.

Where I currently teach, I haven't heard anything official but apparently I'm posted as teaching one class. I'm teaching two now, and would need four to be full-time. However, I also know that my supervisor just had an interview at another job that he'd be great at and he seems really interested in. I like him a lot and wouldn't want him to leave, but if he does, they would need someone to cover his classes, at least temporarily. So there are still some possibilities there.

And finally, I haven't heard anything from the grad program I applied for. I'm waiting to see if one of these other things comes to anything before I contact them.

Gatinha is fussing, so I gotta go. I have a lot of birds in bushes, but none in the hand!
