 Sleep
in search of it
(4 comments)

This is about Nathan's sleep and our new plan for improvement.  I'm posting it here to make a commitment.  He is currently going to sleep for the night around 8 or so.  I nurse him and then dh takes him and puts him in his crib.  Dh then lays next to his crib on our bed until Nathan falls asleep.  Nathan always cries.  Some nights he doesn't cry long and other nights he might cry for 10 or 15 minutes.  Dh is always with him, assuring him and comforting him with his voice (he sings to him).  Once he goes to sleep, he generally sleeps til around 11 or maybe quarter til.  He gets worked up pretty fast while waiting for me as I brush my teeth and get into bed.  I then pull him into bed with me and nurse him back to sleep.  The rest of the night is filled with Nathan waking and wanting to nurse/stay latched on while sleeping, etc.

I won't night wean him until he's 12 mos. but I will start making some changes now.  Our first step is to get him to sleep til midnight.  The past 2 nights, dh has taken care of him when he wakes at 11.  Last night, Nathan was SO TICKED OFF.  It took him probably a half hour to go back to sleep and then he slept til 1am.  Tonight, he woke at ten til 11 and dh got him back to sleep in 10 or 15 minutes.  I think it went much better.  I'm hoping he continues to get better and eventually doesn't wake at that 11 time.
