E is 4 months old!
Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! Life has been crazy since I went back to work on 11/27. I went back half time (mornings) because being away from E 9 hours a day right off was just too difficult because I'm breastfeeding. But now I'm back full time (this is my second week) and it is tough but ok. (Pumping 3 times a day is such a pain...) K is a great babysitter, and I'm totally comfortable with having them both with her. Her husband M has retired so he's around all the time and loves the kids! This month marks 3 years that he's been fighting cancer. That man amazes me. He has cancer in his liver and brain (was in his colon too) but he continues to fight it. God bless him. I wish he could be completely healed. They're still treating him, but they're running out of options.
I took E for his 4 month checkup and he is 50% across the board. 14 lb 3 oz, 25 inches. He's such a sweet boy, with a great disposition. He only cries when something is bugging him. He fluctuates between sleeping pretty well (like getting up at 5:00) and not (3:00, 5:00, etc). But he's so cute I enjoy seeing him any time, even the middle of the night.
CC is a cutie too, although she is a pretty typical 3 year old, testing boundaries a lot. She's not completely potty trained yet. She'll do pretty well, but if you forget to remind her, she'll still go in her diaper. And I can't get that girl to go number 2 on the potty, although K has had more success. She says she watches her like a hawk and can tell when she needs to go. Then she rushes her in and voila!
We started her in violin lessons in December. She enjoys going to them, but as you would guess, it's mostly music type games at this point, and she only has a Styrofoam violin. I'll be happy when she gets a real one and really starts learning to play. I need to be more diligent in getting her to practice daily, even if it's only for a few minutes. But as you might guess, even finding a few minutes can be tough!
I think we're going to start her in gymnastics too. She needs some more activity in her life, especially since she's not in pre-school. Speaking of which, we're planning on sending her to a MWF 2.5 hour per day church based pre-school in September, provided that K agrees to drive her (she's beyond nervous about driving the kids around, but I hope she'll grow accustomed to it because otherwise it would be difficult to make it work).
E and I are going with my mom to see my sister C in Orlando next month. It should be fun and nice to get away, although I feel badly that I'm leaving CC and DH behind. (DH teaches and can't go, and I can't take both kids by myself. Mom is 80 and will need shepherding!) I hope all will go well for everyone.
I've started going back to the church I grew up in (and went to until I was about 32... I stopped going there when I got married. DH wasn't a good influence, I guess) I was surprised how natural it felt to be there again, just like coming home again. I went to a MOPS group there while I was on maternity leave, and that evolved into attending on Sundays. It makes me happy to go, although since E is still nursing, I'm usually pretty distracted. For Christmas, I sang in the choir, and now my friend D has asked me to be on a welcoming committee type thing, so I guess I'm jumping in with both feet. DH usually goes with me. We haven't discussed how he feels about it yet. I hope it'll grow on him. He typically just reads the bible during the sermon and doesn't really listen, but I figure that that has a good effect too.
We tried several churches in the past 7 years, but I'm glad we ended up back at my childhood church. I just wish it was thriving as much as it was 20 years ago. Maybe it'll experience a renaissance.
That's the readers digest version... I feel like I'm rushing everything these days! Is it spring yet?
