 A quick update
As if I have time for a long one…

E was one month old on Monday! He's a pretty good baby, getting up at 2 and 5ish to eat. Up until this week, he was sleeping most of the days away, but now I've noticed that he's awake more during the day, which is nice: I like seeing his beautiful blue eyes. I weighed the two of us last night and then just myself, and it appears he's 10 pounds (which would be 2 more than his birthweight), but I wouldn't call that accurate. He's probably around 9.5 pounds, maybe? He had a healthy case of baby acne, but it's going away now.
CC enjoys her role as big sister. For the first few weeks, she seemed a little more sad, a little more out of control, and a lot more not herself, but I declare that she's back to normal. The only abnormal thing is that several times a day she tells me she loves me. That's nice, but she never did this before we brought the baby home, so I have to wonder what that's about. I make sure she knows she's loved, so I truly hope she's not insecure. I guess seeing me hold E a lot makes her nervous that quantity equals quality.
After a few weeks of outright refusal, she's back to where she was in her potty training (going when we suggest it, but peeing and pooping in her diaper if we don't). She has never once said, "mommy I have to go potty". Anyone have any ideas? I'm just glad she's not outright refusing anymore. I have to note that the morning that I had E, CC and I were in the bathroom together. I went potty first, and then in my pre-labor state, I forgot to put her seat on the toilet and she fell in! So I'll take full blame for her regression.
As far as their relationship goes, CC loves her little brother. She kisses him and asks to hold him, and comforts him when he cries. I couldn't ask for more in this area.
I'm getting used to having two! It takes a lot longer to get out of the house, that's for sure! And my Civic has never been so small. Minivan time? Maybe in a few years when CC is in kindergarten and we're not paying daycare for two.
I've gotten CC a little more friend interaction since I've recovered. We go to storytime at the library on Wednesdays, MOPS every other Thursday, and on Fridays, I take her over to our former neighbor who watches kids. She watches a little 4 year old on Fridays, so the two of them play together for the morning. I also called a neighbor who has a 4 year old and introduced myself, suggesting a playdate. J and her mom came over and spent a Saturday afternoon with us. There's potential there for a friendship I hope.
We're also planning on preschool for her next fall, but in the meantime, we've got to make the most of the opportunities that we have.
