Another Month has slipped by

I'm doing pretty well. My back is starting to object to carrying around another person.  On Monday, I'll be 35 weeks!
We're really struggling to come up with a name. We don't mind a handful (Tom, Jason, Alex, Mike, the new one last night: Julian), but nothing is ringing in our ears. None of them sound like baby names, I guess that's part of the problem. I got 3 name books out of the library last night, which is where Julian came from. We were actually considering Julia when I was pregnant last time, so maybe we're still on that kick. I don't know. I thought it would have been settled by now. I'm starting to getting a tad nervous about it. I'll be considered full term in 2 weeks and 3 days!! (at 37 weeks)

We went to Lake Placid last weekend. Had a really good time! The highlight was going to the top of Little Whiteface Mtn. via gondola. What a ride! My mother in law was terrified the whole time, which is probably what made it seem more dramatic. We took CC up the chairlift again to the ski jumps. I wasn't going to this year, for fear she'd be more aware of the danger and squirmy, but she pretty much insisted on going. She was fine. I basically had her in handcuffs (clutched both her wrists). The lift stopped twice for about 30 seconds (or what felt like 5 hours) each time. If we had been stuck up there... oh man I don't even want to think about it. I was by myself with CC, and DH was with his mom.
The pool was more fun this time too, simply because I didn't stress with every move she made. I'm getting to appreciate her independence! She even slept fairly well, on a cot at the foot of our bed. 90% of the floor space in the bedroom was taken up by beds, but we survived. The hotel was $300/night, but it turns out it was worth it (or got close): basically it was a house on the lake, with two additional units upstairs. We had the entire ground floor unit to ourselves. Full kitchen, breakfast table, small livingroom and fireplace, and then a bed and bath. MIL slept on the pullout. Large deck to ourselves. Very nice. We had to walk up to the main hotel building for breakfast and to swim, but it was fine.
Maybe next year we'll actually rent a house on a lake near there. I can't imagine DH spending an entire week up there, but 3 days on the other hand felt too short. He's violently opposed to "camps" so it would have to be a special DH-approved house. Ah, my husband! I saw one online last year that had a jacuzzi tub on the deck right next to a stream that barrelled down the hill next to the house. THAT would be fantastic!
I'm glad we've finally figured out a way to go to the Adirondacks without him breaking out in hives. The first 5 years that we were married when we never went really depressed me. Shortly after college there were several summers I did weeklong canoe trips on Middle Saranac Lake, the kind of trip where you have to bring water purification tablets, special biodegradable soap, and you have to worry about your cooler thawing out too soon. But in the past 3 years, we've progressed from a day trip to Old Forge for canoeing to long weekends in LP. Good trend! Maybe in 20 years we'll own a camp up there (Ha ha).
We got CC's room and the baby's room painted on Monday. CC's room is now kind of like a plum purple, and the baby's room is a striking blue. While we were at it, we had the bathroom repainted too. Last fall we had it painted purple, and it was just too bright. Now its "roasted sesame seed". A golden yellow of sorts. It really sings with the countertop (green) and the white and black tile on the floor.
CC was really cute last night with my belly. "Good night baby brother! Come out soon!" I've got to get a picture of that. I'm hoping that reactions like this evolve into quick bonding later. On the other hand, she might respond "THIS is what you meant? Not cool with this." Last night at the dinner table, she says "I'm such a failure." Which is just shocking to hear come out of your 2 years old's mouth. We inquired a bit, and it turns out she was just quoting from a Handy Manny episode. Whew. I actually said to her, "You can't say that again, or your parents are going to get hauled into CPS."
She's a corker alright!
