Anyone even remember me? Thought I'd stop in for an update! (3 comments)

It's been awhile! Just wanted to say, I have been "lurking" and checking other peoples journals. But that's not fair, and I need to update myself!!
I decided not to go to graduate school. Well, maybe someday I will, but I decided that 1) I really did not love the program/career enough to invest all that time and MONEY, quit my job, and move to a entirely new city. I also really like where I live, I like the area and all my family is here (I am a true Cancer lol) and would like to stay here. There's some other reasons too, but that's the gist of it. This however, has left me with the question "what do I want to do with my life?" I'm not totally sure, not to mention cuz because I want to do something, doesn't mean someones going to hire me. Jobs are VERY scarce around here, which doesn't help. And I H-A-T-E my current job and cannot imgine staying here. I apply to jobs all the time but never hear anything or never get picked. It stinks.
I am going to apply to the dental hygiene program and the nursing program at my community college and hope they accept me. Dental hygiene is my first pick though. It's something I've always wished I had done. Is it my undying passion in life? No...but I DO like it, and like learning about it, and it pays very well and is a flexible job for when I have kids. Also, the education is like less than 1/4 the cost my graduate education would have been, and I'll make more money doing this than what I would have done with the graduate degree. So I just HOPE I get in. I already have a Bachelors degree...so I'm hoping they'll see that and be like, oh I guess she's not dumb. The degree is an AAS in Dental hygiene. I think I'm going to take an online pysch course this summer b/c its required for the program and I never took it first time around in college. It also is a "priority" class which means it boosts me up with the admissions people if I already have that under my belt. I wish I could get some Biology's (which are also "priority classes") but I work 50 hours a week now, and its just not feasable...The classes are all during the day too, not at night. I can't just up and quit my job to take 1 Bio class lol which could be for naught, if I never even get accepted into the program. Anyways, I just gotta hope for the best! I have to apply by 1/31/10...so I have awhile. It's a very competative program, so I'm nervous I wont get in!
My boyfriend is still living 90 miles away, and it sucks. He's been coming out here tho on the weekends, which is nice. He likes this area better too and wants to move back out his way. He's actually out here now, tomorrow (Tuesday) he's going to apply for some apprenticeships at some unions-it's through the NY state dept of labor. Fingers crossed one fo them accepts him! He'd really like the electrictian one, but he'd take any at this point. He said he needs a job that will support a family, and I agree!! He also got an email this weekend for a "jack of all trades" type job for a local resturant equiptment company, and they want to set up an interview with him this week. Since he's here today and tomorrow, he's trying to get the interview for tomorrow. Tomorrow night I'm supposed to take him back home (yea, he STILL does not have a car!!). I say supposed to cuz we're under a winter weather advisory so idk if the roads are gonna get bad or not. And I'll be driving at night since I have to 5:30 everyday. But hopefully he'll be living out here soon! He's also going to have to find an apt out here, quickly, once he gets a job offer, so that's kind of stressful too!!
Hmm what else is new? I moved in January. My mom sold my childhood home and moved into a smaller house. Its only a mile down the road in a different subdivision. It's really cute and it's a cape cod style home, so my bedroom upstairs is so big. Its very retro (lol orange shag carpet) but its grown on me. Of course we have plans of redoing it all, but haven't gotten to that yet! I hope to move into my own lil apartment with the boyfriend within the next year though. I am so ready for my own space!! I just don't make enough now to afford it
Anyways, I'm at work so I should get back to it. I have so much more to say, but I am of course blanking out!
