Appt. with a new doc. Monday---just listing symptoms for my records! (14 comments)

I know I’ve talked about my “rash” issue in my journal a bazillion times, so it must get old to hear the same old story. But…… I made an interesting observation last week--yes, a “light bulb moment!” Each month I track down my ovulation, period and rash symptoms. The “research” I’ve come up with has concluded that my lovely rash likes to show up “most often” right after I ovulate and right before my period!!! So, back to the internet I went a searching!
Recap and Research:
This past December, I was diagnosed with serum sickness. My previous family physician referred me to an allergist, who gave me that diagnosis (he also had a lot of blood work done). I had all the classic symptoms of the illness, but a cause was never identified. After doing my own research, I learned that “hormones” could be a cause. I also started keeping track of when I would get serum sickness symptoms, and evidently, my allergist said the symptoms could come and go for about 6 months. I realized the symptoms, such as a rash, stomach cramps and nausea, would come exactly a day before I ovulated. I am positive about the ovulation, because I get the ovulation pain and discharge. This has occurred for at least the past 5 months. I believe that an imbalance of my hormones could be making me sick. (too much estrogen and not enough progesterone!)
In addition, I have noticed my rash coming and going more frequently between ovulation and when I get my period. I am currently on Zrytec and Nizatidine to control the SS. I have not been “as sick” as the initial onset of the SS in December....that is when I also had horrible joint pain. (Although, the stomach aches and nausea before ovulation are becoming very bothersome!)
Now, the following are other symptoms I have (maybe tmi for some!):
*PMS--(mood swings, very sore breasts, frequent urination, skin breakouts, and bloating) *stomachaches and nausea before ovulation (from rise in estrogen?) *rash that comes and goes *2 light brown pigmentation areas on my lower right cheek *fatigue, esp. during pms time *from the time I get my period, I have been having a shorter phase before I ovulate--It’s been around Cycle day 10, which is earlier for me than normal (In the past I ovulated on day 14, right on the dot!). I don’t get much of a break from the time of my period until I ovulate, of just feeling “normal.” The day after I ovulate, my breasts will start to get sore. *Bleeding comes and goes during my period. At some point, there is usually an hour or two, during my menstrual cycle, where I will feel a “gush” of blood come out and it will continue for a little while. I will sit on the toilet and it will flow out (not downpour, but enough to sometimes concern me.) It eventually slows down and then stops altogether.
Okay, I wanted to document this for my records, just incase dh accidentally deletes it on my works file.
Also, I’m excited about this new doctor. She came highly recommended by someone and she just opened up her practice. She is a family physician who specializes in women’s health. So, since I really no longer need an ob-gyn, I decided to make a switch to one doctor who I can feel comfortable with taking care of all my needs!!! Anyhow, I will document how my appt. goes on Monday!
Next up, a much needed update on other stuff!
